Uma série de quatro shows estão sendo planejadas pelos fãs de George Harrison em Liverpool, sua cidade natal, para homenagear o ex-Beatle no 10 º aniversário de sua morte, ocorrida em 29 de novembro de 2001 em Los Angeles.
Sob o título de "Ten Years On Liverpool lembra George," os concertos terão lugar em 25 de agosto e 29, com mais dois eventos em 29 de novembro. Os shows serão unidos pelos organizadores da homenagem para George em 2009 e Cavern City Tours.

Em 29 de agosto, o Festival anual Mathew Street vai incluir um foco especial no n º 1 do Liverpool hits, incluindo "My Sweet Lord" e uma homenagem especial à música de George Harrison. A entrada é gratuita.

A series of four concerts are being planned by George Harrison fans in Liverpool, his hometown, to honor the former Beatle on the 10th anniversary of his death, which took place on Nov. 29, 2001 in Los Angeles.
Under the umbrella title "Ten Years On Liverpool Remembers George," the concerts will take place on Aug. 25 and 29, with two more events on Nov. 29. The shows are being put together by the organizers of the For George tribute in 2009 and Cavern City Tours.
The first show called "Remembering George at The Cavern" takes place at 8 p.m. Aug. 25 at the club where the Beatles performed before they became famous. It will feature Rick Alan, Gavin Pring and Argentine Beatle cover band Nube 9 (Cloud 9).
On Aug. 29, the annual Mathew Street Festival will include a special focus on Liverpool's No. 1 music hits, including "My Sweet Lord," and a special tribute to the music of George Harrison. Admission is free.
The major tribute concert for George Harrison will take place at 2 p.m. Nov. 29 at Liverpool's St. George's Hall. Performers will include former Apple Records artists Brute Force ("King of Fuh") (our interview with Brute Force) and the Radha Krishna Temple ("Hare Krishna Mantra"), Ray Bernard, a member of the George Formby Appreciation Society (George Harrison was a big Formby fan) and Karen Shutt, Jeff Slate of the Badge (also New York Rock Culture Examiner), the Mersey Beatles, Lee Christian and the Rebels, the Singh Strings and Tsema. Emcee for the show will be Arthur Kelly, one of the original Rebels, who sat next to George Harrison at the Liverpool Institute. Admission is free.

Slate, who played at the 2009 For George tribute, says going back in 2011 was an easy decision.
"There's just a really great vibe," he says. "The people who are involved in it all knew George when he was a really young guy, so they have a real fondness and affection for him that goes right to the core of who he was. It almost has nothing to do with the fact that he was a Beatle. It's like they knew him in grammar school or high school. They remember this guy that they feel really fondly for and are happy to have seen him be so successful and be such a great ambassador for Liverpool."
