Ontem, Cinco de Maio, fui prestigiar o documentário What's happening! The Beatles in USA!
Ele aceitou o convite.
Today I honor the documentary What's Happening! The Beatles in the USA! Directed by Albert and his brother David (the deceased in 1987) Maysles is a famous sequence of scenes of the Fab Four in his first U.S. visit.
The friendly Mr. Maysles, with me in the photo above is a gentleman of 84, but an lucidity and memory enviable. Before the film, he told details of when he was invited to make the movie. He received a phone call and an invitation to make a film of the "Beatles"and he asked to his brother David if they were good, what the brother said they are great!
The images dated 1964 (years where I was born, incidentally), made me go back to those days. The screaming fans, the hotel room, shows, interviews to the radio, The Ed Sullivan Show, the jokes, the fun, travel, hotel room (it's intentional, because what the hell they could do outside the room the harassment was hellish) and yet the affection with their fans. Even without subtitles, what mattered was the same atmosphere ... the trip!

Ah! Before the documentary was a surprise:
A video recorded by Albert Paul McCartney, six weeks after the attack on the World Trade Center.
An affection of the Beatle city so burdened by tragedy. He walks down the street and talk to people.
Imagine bumping into you in NYC a Beatle?
